Bren's Lovely Painted Ladies
The dolls that started it all...
In addition to writing, Bren has always been interested and actively involved with art. She is always trying some new craft, or involved in some artistic project. In 1998, Bren started selling repainted fashion dolls on ebay under the name "Lovely Painted Ladies."
Most of the dolls she sold were dressed in period costumes and accompanied by a romantic short story. Soon the stories began to get as much attention as the dolls. A time intensive labor of love, the creation of a doll involved not only repainting the doll's face, but restyling the hair, designing and making the costume, and then choosing the perfect story to suit that particular doll. Attention to detail included custom designed jewelry and complete period-style underwear and footwear. Sometimes the story came first, then the doll was created. Sometimes it was the other way around.
While her clients adored her dolls, and hated to see her stop creating them, they were fascinated by the stories that came with each doll. Those clients, and even absolute strangers who had read her stories, began to urge Bren to write a book.
So... she pulled out a novel she had begun years ago, dusted it off, and spent a year re-writing it. The result was her first historical romance novel, "The Price Of Eden."
